North Norfolk Coast in Autumn

Sunday 18th - Saturday 24th October 2020

The North Norfolk coast is studded with nature reserves and consequently is an excellent area for an Autumn break.  Winter visitors such as Brent Geese, Pink-footed Geese,Eurasian Wigeon and many wader species will be arriving while a few late Summer visitors may still be present.  This area of coast is also famed for receiving 'drift migrants' from Scandinavia and the North Sea too.  In short, just about anything can turn up!

We will be based in an excellent hotel close to the Titchwell RSPB nature reserveand consequently we can visit this reserve for a full day and also at the ends of each day if we wish.  Here we should find lots of waders on the various lagoons and at the beach.  These should include Pied Avocets, Black-tailed and Bar-tailed Godwits, Golden Plovers and Common Snipe as well as Great Bittern and Bearded Tits in the reed beds and we could witness perhaps 25 Marsh Harriers heading to their evening roost.  Needless to say there are plenty of other species to encounter on this reserve.

At Snettisham RSPB reserve we should see thousands of Red Knots and other waders as well as possible Peregrine, Merlin, Sparrowhawk and Common Buzzard.  Other places to be visited will include Cley Marshes, Dersingham Bog National Nature Reserve, Holm Dunes and there will be a boat trip out to Blakeney Point to see Harbour and Atlantic Grey Seals plus a few sea birds too.  Over some of the rough grassland meadows we might see resident Barn Owls or recently arrived Short-eared Owls as we drive to and from the various reserves.Join me on a fabulous wildlife trip close to home.
